Importance of iron in plant metabolism

Iron is constantly required during plant growth. It is a component of many enzymes and catalyzes the formation of precursors of chlorophyll - that group of materials that gives plants their characteristic green color. Chlorophylls and various iron-containing enzymes (eg ferredoxin or cytochrome b6f complex) are required for the light reactions in the plant, which provides the necessary energy for the plant growth. Therefore, iron is essential for the plant. In order to ensure optimal growth, this micro element should always be available.

With this product you can apply iron to your plants, since it is in a form that can be absorbed by plants. For that purpose, it is ionically bound in EDTA chelate complex. This complex is completely stable up to a pH value of about 6. For larger pH values it comes to precipitation. The stability is also dependent on the water hardness. Under certain conditions it must be expended or resorted to another chelate complex.

If you own cultures that require a higher pH range (>7) in the substrate, we offer alternative chelators that are stable in this area (eg Fe-EDDHA).
